Two Years Old
About 15 years ago a pastor told me something very profound: He asked “Is it really stepping out in faith if you don’t have far to fall?” His encouragement to me was to stretch my faith in God to the point that anything that I accomplished for God was so big that it would be obvious that I didn’t do it.
Two years ago I remembered that comment when I decided to start i58:10 Media and use Isaiah 58:10 as our foundation. The desire was simple, but big: use media to motivate people in an effort to meet the needs of a hurting world. The needs in the world today can still be overwhelming, but looking back on these last two years I feel like we are making a difference as we partner with and support some amazing ministries.
World Concern was our first client as we developed a campaign called “The 44 Cent Cure.” To date this radio campaign has help provide de-worming medicine to over 1.5 million children. Radio has also helped World Concern raise over $500,000 for Haiti Relief.
Portland Rescue Mission has been a long-time friend and two years ago we launched a whole new outreach by producing video for their website. It’s been spiritually invigorating as we have now filmed and produced nearly 75 video testimonies to inspire and motivate viewers to give.
Along the way we have done things like build websites, launch e-mail marketing initiatives, produce videos and conduct hundreds of radio campaigns for ministries like MorningStar Mission, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Africa New Life Ministries, Los Angeles Mission, Union Rescue Mission, Transitional Youth, John 3:16 Mission, Compassion International, Orlando Union Rescue Mission, City Rescue Mission and Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission. We even started producing video for radio stations, and this past November it was a thrill to re-introduce the “Hope to the Hungry” campaign on the radio networks of K-LOVE and Air 1. That event alone raised over $710,000 for over 120 rescue missions.
It’s humbling to look back and see how many ministries have trusted us to help present their message to the public, and it’s even more humbling to see how God has used our combined efforts to raise millions of dollars for His glory.
We continue to dream big for 2010. The cause of poverty and justice is part of our collective DNA, so members of our team are already booked to travel to Haiti, Rwanda, and dozens of cities in the US in order to interact and document what God is doing in the lives of the poor, broken and hurting. We’ll be attending the AGRM Convention in May and are excited to connect with old friends. And, what we all get excited about is learning and using new technology that will help us live out the scripture verse which inspires our name. It really is an exciting time.
Being two years old is something to celebrate…but it’s just the beginning. We’re still dreaming of things so big that only God can take credit for it.
