What’s the most embarrassing song in your Playlist?
The entire soundtrack to the original stage version of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
Who is your favorite storyteller?
A number of years ago when I did sound design production for Focus on the Family’s “Adventures in Odyssey.” I grew to enjoy the writing style of Paul McCusker, who wrote many of the stories. Though he’s probably not very famous, Paul has a unique gift of crafting stories that inspire both children and adults.
Most amazing encounter with someone in need?
Shortly after I joined the staff of i58:10 Media, I interviewed a homeless man who looked especially tired, disheveled and old. The lines and stress on his face told a story before he even began to speak. During our conversation, he mentioned that he had graduated from high school the same year I had. It shocked me and at that moment I realized that there were men out there my exact age whose lives had taken a fork in the road much different than mine. It served as a stark reminder to pray for those living on the streets who had taken the other fork in the road.
Describe your family?
I’ve been married to my college sweetheart, Cheryl, for over 30 years. We have two grown daughters, Emily and Anna, who live near us. Cheryl is an elementary school teacher, Emily works as a horse trainer and riding instructor, and Anna just graduated from college and is working as a magazine editor. We have one terrier dog and 5 terror cats.
What is a quote that has had the biggest impact on your life?
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility of mind consider others more important than yourselves.” -Paul (Philippians 2:3)
