What’s the most embarrassing song in your Playlist?
I have an eclectic palate when it comes to music, so I’m sure there are more than a few embarrassing ones in the mix.
Who is your favorite storyteller?
My daughters, Hannah and Abby.
Most amazing encounter with someone in need?
Sharing the Gospel in a Muslim village in Israel. Gave a copy of the New Testament in Arabic to a teenage girl. With tears in her eyes she told me she had been having dreams about this Jesus and knew in her heart that the Gospel message was true, but her parents would disown her if they found out she believed in Jesus. She thanked me for the bible and said she would read the whole thing that night.
Why do you do what you do for i58:10 Media?
Direct Kingdom impact. As a follower of Jesus, I’m called to spread the Gospel, the good news, God’s shalom, to the farthest reaches of the earth. i58:10 Media affords me the opportunity to connect those good news opportunities with the power of radio. As a result, we’ve seen God use our tiny little company to help raise financial support so that thousands of kids can be cured from intestinal parasites due to unclean drinking water. We’ve been able to provide the means for clean drinking water in areas where villagers have to walk six hours roundtrip just to fill up their water jugs with polluted pond or stream water. We’ve been able to rescue young women and their little children from brothels and sex trafficking and place them in safe houses that provide healing, care and God’s love. We’ve been able to restore hope to those who find themselves living on the streets in cities across the U.S. by providing a warm meal, love and care through our partnerships with local rescue missions. Bringing hope and light and healing and peace to some of the darkest poverty stricken areas around the globe. That’s Isaiah 58:10. I thank God every morning on my way to work for the opportunity I have to get to serve in this capacity.
Describe your family?
My wife Nicole and I have two daughters, Hannah and Abby. We enjoy taking our girls on dates every week, and laughing a lot. Hannah is our star basketball player and Abby is our theater and drama star. I grew up Jewish and Nicole grew up in a Christian home. One of our favorite family traditions is celebrating Hanumas. Hanumas is the morphing of Hanukkah and Christmas. We celebrate by inviting friends and neighbors to our home for our annual “Hanumas Anonymous” party. We have a 9 foot tall “Christmas Tree / Hanumas Bush” decorated with dreidels and ornaments that our girls make along with a Magen David star at the top that says Yeshua, (the Hebrew name for Jesus.) I tell the story of Hanukkah and Christmas and then share how Jesus is the light for both Jew and Gentile. Everyone brings their favorite Hanukkah or Christmas treat to share, and then we do an anonymous White Elephant game while the kids are playing dreidel by the candle light of the Hanukkah.
What is a quote that has had the biggest impact on your life?
“God’s salvation does not come in response to a changed life. A changed life comes in response to the salvation, offered as a free gift.” -Tim Keller
