Who is your favorite storyteller?
C.S. Lewis creates stories that can hold the interest of young and old alike. His stories are both fiction and captivating, as well as non-fiction and intriguing and his Christian writings are held in high esteem.
Most amazing encounter with someone in need?
As a long time mentor with Young Life, I worked closely with a 5 year old child in our one-on-one elementary school literacy program, whose day looked very different than mine. At a young age he was taught to hide underneath parked cars (in between the wheels) to protect himself from drive by shootings, and this information was ingrained in memory as part of his normal and daily activity. The innocence of his childhood was taken much too soon, having seen so much violence and having constantly to be concerned for personal safety, yet he was a delight and a bright light to others in his world and to me. His smile could light up a room.
Why do you do what you do for i58:10 Media?
I am so very blessed to be at a job where I can openly pray for all. Having worked with society’s poor, marginalized, at risk, addicted and sometimes dangerous individuals for 30 years, without being allowed to pray with them, I am so excited to be surrounded by people where Jesus is everything. Every part of the work day, big or small, is to promote the Kingdom of God and that fills me with joy. Plus, I get to learn a lot of new things.
Describe your family?
I have been married 22 years to a wonderful man, Tim, and we have two awesome children, Chase (20) and McKena (18). We love to hike, play pickle ball, cheer on the Beavers and the Blazers, play board games, and vacation together. We also love serving together as a family and have enjoyed many days at local missions over the years. We are soon to be empty nesters as both kids go off to college!
What is a quote that has had the biggest impact on your life?
